Job summary

Akamai Technologies in Cambridge, MA is seeking a Senior II SDET to lead the test strategy for our Linux kernel-driven Cloud Platform Infrastructure, design scalable testing infrastructure, and validate features to maximize performance of a global AI and Compute platform.

You will design automated test frameworks to validate new kernel enhancements, troubleshoot low-level issues, and mentor junior engineers while driving robust CI/CD processes across testing environments.

Qualifications

• 8 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• Experience validating C software with a focus on Linux kernel infrastructure and scripting (Python/Shell/Perl).
• Deep understanding of Linux kernel internals (KVM, virtio drivers, cgroups, memory management, filesystems, TCP/IP).
• Experience with Linux kernel debugging tools, performance benchmarking, and CI frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and scale advanced automated test frameworks for the Linux kernel.
• Develop test suites to validate enhancements and port modifications to newer kernel versions.
• Debug, isolate, and troubleshoot complex, low-level system issues in testing environments.

As a Senior II SDET, you will lead the test strategy for Akamai's custom Linux kernel, design scalable continuous testing infrastructure, and troubleshoot complex system issues to validate feature functionality and maximize performance of a global AI and Compute platform.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and scale advanced automated test frameworks to validate the performance, reliability, and security of the Akamai Linux kernel for AI and Compute platforms
• Develop test suites to validate new custom enhancements and facilitate porting existing Akamai modifications to newer versions of the Linux kernel and VM infrastructure software
• Debug, isolate, and troubleshoot complex, low-level system issues found in various testing and simulated production environments
• Architect and enhance existing build and test automation infrastructure to achieve robust continuous integration and testing
• Provide technical leadership, set quality standards, and mentor junior members of the organization

Qualifications

• 8 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent
• Experience in software validation/development in C with a solid focus on Linux kernel infrastructure and scripting (Python/Shell/Perl)
• Deep understanding of Linux kernel internals (KVM, virtio drivers, cgroups, memory management, file systems, block IO, Ethernet drivers, TCP/IP stack)
• Extensive experience with Linux kernel debugging tools, performance benchmarking, and continuous testing/CI frameworks

Compensation

For US-based candidates, the base salary ranges from $146,400 to $263,600 per year. Compensation may include annual bonuses, equity awards, and ESPP.
