Job summary

Liberty Personnel Services, Inc. in Midland, TX is seeking an experienced Ignition Automation Engineer to support development, integration, and maintenance of industrial SCADA/HMI systems in upstream Oil & Gas.

This onsite role requires hands-on experience with Ignition, Python/Jython scripting, SQL, OPC UA, and PLC/field device integration, with responsibilities spanning design, troubleshooting, and commissioning of automation solutions.

Qualifications

Experience with Inductive Automation Ignition to develop and support SCADA/HMI applications.
Proficiency in Python/Jython scripting for automation tasks.
Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases; able to write efficient queries.
Experience integrating PLCs, field devices, and industrial control systems.
Familiarity with OPC UA and industrial communication protocols.

Responsibilities

Develop, configure, and maintain industrial SCADA and HMI applications using Inductive Automation Ignition.
Design and implement Ignition Perspective, Vision, and Edge applications.
Develop scripts and automation functionality using Python/Jython.
Integrate SCADA systems with PLCs, industrial equipment, field devices, and communication networks.
Develop and maintain SQL queries, database connections, and data-driven applications.
Configure and troubleshoot OPC UA communications and industrial protocols.
Support MQTT and Sparkplug integrations for industrial data connectivity.
Perform system troubleshooting, testing, commissioning, and ongoing technical support.
Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to improve system performance and reliability.
Participate in scheduled after-hours and weekend support rotations.
