Job summary

VC5 Consulting is seeking a hands-on engineer to administer and optimize Ignition SCADA systems from our Houston base. You will craft scripts in Python to automate tasks, query and analyze data with SQL, and help design user-friendly SCADA screens for client needs.

Ideal candidates bring 1–2 years in Ignition SCADA development and 2–3 years in the oil and gas sector, with experience across OPC UA, Modbus, and MQTT, enabling effective on-site support and data integration.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years development experience with Ignition SCADA.
• 2-3 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, preferably upstream.
• Experience with OPC UA, Modbus, and MQTT, and troubleshooting knowledge in this area.
• Familiarity with integrating SCADA data into enterprise data pipelines and managing large datasets.
• Location: Houston, TX 77002.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain multiple Ignition SCADA systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
• Develop and implement advanced scripting solutions to customize and enhance the SCADA platform's functionality.
• Write and maintain Python scripts to automate tasks, contributing to overall system efficiency.
• Utilize SQL knowledge to manipulate and query databases for data analysis and reporting purposes.
• Assist in the normalization and standardization of large datasets to ensure data integrity and usability.
• Collaborate with the engineering team to design and implement user-friendly SCADA screens that meet client needs.
