Job summary

Cisco Systems, Inc. is seeking a hands-on Senior Identity Platform Engineer based in the United States, with eligibility to work in the Austin, TX region or Ann Arbor, MI. Remote candidates will be considered.

You will own the architecture and technical direction for core SSO and identity-broker capabilities, building secure, scalable services and APIs using Python, and shaping the platform's security, scalability, and long-term evolution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field.
• 8+ years of related experience (or 6+ with master's, 3+ with PhD).
• Experience delivering distributed systems, microservices, or enterprise cloud services.
• Backend services and APIs using Python with async patterns.
• Experience in identity, authentication, or security capabilities.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools with strong security and maintainability.

Responsibilities

• Define architecture and direction for core SSO and identity-broker capabilities.
• Lead secure, scalable SSO services, identity-broker features, and APIs in Python.
• Translate business needs into architecture decisions and actionable specs.
• Apply AI-assisted development practices across the software lifecycle.
• Serve as a technical bridge among squads, PM, and architecture teams.
• Provide mentorship to engineers on architecture, identity, and distributed systems.
