Job summary

American Association for Laboratory Animal Science is seeking a Senior Regulatory Analyst to provide strategic oversight of the IACUC compliance program, oversee the Semiannual Facility Inspection (SAFI) program, and support PAM activities.

The role requires autonomous leadership of complex regulatory initiatives, site visits, SOP development, and policy implementation to strengthen animal research protections.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert-level knowledge of federal regulations (DHHS, PHS, FDA, USDA, HIPAA, etc.) and institutional policies relevant to human or animal research and privacy.
• Review complex scientific documents to identify ethical and regulatory issues.
• May approve protocol submissions eligible for expedited review.
• Document decision-making in checklists, databases, and correspondence.
• Provide guidance to research committee staff, board members, and researchers on complex issues.
• Develop and implement solutions for protocol submissions and regulatory review processes.
• Direct and evaluate research committee operations; document minutes and resolutions.
• Keep current on regulatory changes through literature and training.
• Educate and train faculty and staff on the protocol review process; develop resource materials.
• Prepare, send, and track incident notifications to researchers and officials as required.
• Respond to follow-up inquiries from agencies, faculty, and affiliated institutions.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal/external departments and organizations involved in the research program.
• Set goals for the research committee and oversee evaluations and quality control.
• Design, implement, and monitor internal controls for efficient operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
