Job summary

MSTI in Oak Ridge, Tennessee is seeking an I&C Engineer to support instrumentation and controls through detailed design, build, and testing in line with design requirements.

You will design I&C for process systems, collaborate with system engineers, develop P&IDs, control logic, HMI, PLC/DCS specs, and mentor junior engineers while supporting system hazard analysis and design reviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university.
• 5+ years of expertise in instrumentation and control system development.
• Experience working with nuclear instrumentation and control systems preferred.
• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain US security clearance is preferred.

Responsibilities

• I&C design for process systems (controls, instrumentation, data collection, electro‑mechanical, automation & robotics, connectivity).
• Work with system and mechanical engineers, designers, and analysts on detailed design.
• Support mechanical engineers in developing P&IDs and diagrams.
• Interface with Architectural and Engineering firms to support I&C development/implementation.
• Create requirements and procurement specifications for instrumentation and control systems.
• Develop control logic narratives, diagrams, and PLC/DCS code.
• Develop HMI screens and panel wiring diagrams.
• Lead reviews and mentor less experienced I&C design engineers.
• Prepare design change packages and design calculations.
• Participate in system Process Hazards Analysis.
