Job summary

Akima Infrastructure Services (AIS) seeks electrical engineers to support DOE programs at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge and the Pantex Plant in Amarillo. The role centers on detailed design, instrumentation and controls, and field technical support for plant systems within an integrated project team.

Qualifications emphasize ABET/EE degrees, extensive I&C design experience, and DOE Q clearance eligibility.

Qualifications

• ABET accredited Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with 15-20 years of experience or a MS with 14-18 years of experience and > 5 years instrumentation and controls design experience.
• Ability to obtain a DOE Q clearance. DOE Q-Clearance is highly desired but not required to start work.
• Experience utilizing the National Electrical Code, UL508A, and relevant ISA standards to design instrumentation and controls systems.
• Experience utilizing Rockwell Automation industrial automation software (RSLogix, FactoryTalk View) is preferred but not required.
• A Professional Engineering License (PE) is preferable but not required.

Responsibilities

• Develop high quality detailed design packages, providing engineering procurement and field technical support to implement designs.
• Prepare conceptual engineering deliverables including cost-estimating bills of material and labor-hour estimates, statements of work, design criteria, and design deliverables.
• Routinely perform walkdowns in existing facilities to generate design documents and provide field support to craft personnel.
• Apply electrical engineering principles with instrumentation/controls focus for process control and monitoring; develop diagrams and schematics.
• Work as part of an integrated project team and support design for both batch and continuous processes.
