Job summary

Stantec seeks a Mechanical Engineer with 10+ years of experience in hydroelectric turbine and generator projects, dam outlet works, and large water conveyance systems. You’ll work with multidisciplinary teams on rotating machines for water resources and related valve equipment.

The role involves planning, design, CAD drafting, and field support across government, public, and private sectors, with an emphasis on reliability and client-focused solutions.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of mechanical design of hydro units, dam outlet works, and water conveyance installations.
• Experience with analytical calculations, manufacturing processes, and handling commercial contracts.
• Proficiency with CAD and mechanical/structural FEA programs; MS Office skills.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication; ability to coordinate with diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with project engineers and managers on planning, design, CAD drafting/modeling, and preparation of manufacturing plans and specifications.
• Identify project goals with clients and propose strategies to meet objectives.
• Determine criteria, loads, and boundary conditions for mechanical design of turbines/generators including calculations.
