Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Windsor Locks, CT is seeking an experienced Hydromechanical Design Engineer to support both in-service propeller products and new development. You will work across concept, design, verification, validation, and field support for military and commercial platforms.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a STEM degree with 8+ years experience or an advanced degree with 5+ years of experience.
• Experience with hydraulic mechanical system design, analysis, and verification.
• Experience designing mechanical assemblies with standard parts (seals, screws, bearings, plugs and pins).
• Ability to present to customers, operators, and leadership internally & externally.
• Experience with CAD software.
• Capable to lead technical teams.
• Familiarity with ANSI Y14.5M-1982 (drawing interpretation).
• Experience in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Strong oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform design activities across all phases of the design cycle from concept to manufacturing and field support.
• Design mechanical components with manufacturability, reliability, and maintainability in mind.
• Provide technical leadership for medium to large projects.
• Engage with suppliers for sizing and selection of components (pumps, valves, EHSV and motors).
• Disposition of production non-conforming material coordinating with other disciplines.
• Interact with internal and external customers, vendors and suppliers.
• Participate in engineering teams and reviews.
• Cross-train peers and contribute to problem-solving.
• Domestic and international travel may be required (<10%).
