Job summary

McKim & Creed, Inc. seeks a Hydrographic Technician III to join our field crew in North Carolina. You will assist with data collection in marine environments, operate survey vessels, and acquire data using multibeam, single beam, side scan, and magnetometer.

Responsibilities include safe small vessel operations, towing and backing trailers, basic boat maintenance, and strict adherence to field procedures and safety guidelines. Travel 50–70% with weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• USCG license is required.
• 5 years of professional hydrographic survey experience.
• 5 years’ experience working on boats and in the coastal environment.
• High school diploma or GED and technical school training in hydrography.
• Small vessel operation experience is required.
• Must be able to obtain TWIC card.

Responsibilities

• Perform various duties as part of a Hydrographic Survey crew.
• Assist with field data collection in marine environments using modern techniques and survey vessel operation.
• Acquire data using multibeam, single beam, side scan, and magnetometer.
• Perform safe small vessel operations.
• Towing and backing trailers.
• Basic boat maintenance.
• Complete assigned tasks while following field procedures.
• Use safety equipment and follow field safety procedures.
• Ensure safety of crew, vehicles, equipment, and public interest.
• Walk long distances over varied terrain, sometimes in water.
• Travel 50–70% with weekends and irregular schedules.
