Job summary

McKim & Creed, Inc. in Pensacola is seeking a Hydrographic Technician II to join a large, employee-owned firm focused on people helping people. You will work in a field-heavy role acquiring data with multibeam, singlebeam, sidescan, mobile laser scanning, and sub-bottom systems.

The position includes survey planning, budgeting, training staff, and frequent client reporting, with 50–70% time in the field. A team-oriented, detail-driven approach and the ability to travel are essential.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of professional hydrographic survey experience.
• Ability to obtain a TWIC card.
• 3+ years on boats and in coastal environments; small vessel operations experience.
• 3+ years' experience with data acquisition systems including multibeam, singlebeam, sidescan, inertial navigation, sub-bottom profilers.
• Experience with industry standard software packages including: Hypack, Caris, QPS, POS Pac, ArcGIS, etc.
• Ability to perform field work, including travel (50 to 70%), weekends, holidays, and the physical ability to lift objects over 50 lbs.
• Ability to work in a team environment, self-manage, resourceful and manage others.
• A valid driver's license with a clean driving record, cleared background check and negative drug test result.

Responsibilities

• Acquire data using multibeam, singlebeam, sidescan, mobile laser scanning, and sub-bottom.
• Survey planning and budgeting.
• Teaching, training, managing and developing staff.
• 50-70% of time spent in the field.
• Client communications and project reporting.
• Support data processing, analysis, reporting, and proposal writing.
