Job summary

Auburn University is seeking an experienced Senior Technology Architect to provide strategic leadership in the design, integration, and delivery of technology solutions for cybersecurity, research, and mission support. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required with 10+ years of IT experience in designing and developing technology systems and services.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for the design, integration, governance, and evolution of systems, platforms, and services supporting cybersecurity, research, and operations.
• Own target-state and transition architectures across cloud and on-premises compute, storage, networking, and security.
• Translate requirements into scalable designs, BOMs, integration plans, and lifecycle-cost estimates.
• Establish architecture principles, reference patterns, and technical standards across programs.
• Lead modernization planning and identify gaps in performance, capacity, and cost.
• Provide technical leadership for hybrid cloud platforms, IAM, PKI, containers, IaC, observability, and deployment pipelines.
• Align architecture with delivery roadmaps and security-by-design requirements.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and vendors for secure, interoperable outcomes.
• Advise leadership on investments and roadmaps with clear tradeoffs.
• Guide migration, monitoring, and high-availability efforts across systems.
• Mentor and coordinate teams to ensure durable ownership of architecture artifacts.
