Job summary

Nokia is seeking an electronics hardware design engineer in Sunnyvale to develop circuits for lasers, SOA, VOA, modulators, and EDFA pump lasers, with MPD sensors for system performance. The role requires FPGA/CPLD/MCU integration and design of power supplies, with extensive schematic and PCB collaboration.

You'll run Spice simulations, test benches, and bring-up campaigns, while coordinating with firmware teams for diagnostics and hardware validation.

Qualifications

• MS degree in Electrical Engineering with minimum 5 years of experience in laser-related or data communication fields.
• Experience in board-level circuit design, simulation, testing and board bring-up.
• Proficiency in Cadence Allegro and layout editing to guide PCB implementation.
• Strong knowledge of signal and power integrity for high-speed PCB designs.
• Familiarity with PCB fabrication and assembly processes for prototyping.
• Experience with lab test equipment (oscilloscopes, generators, power meters).
• Ability to automate tests through coding and scripting.
• Strong cross-functional communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Design circuits at transistor, op-amp, and discrete levels to meet bandwidth, noise, and power constraints.
• Incorporate FPGA/CPLD/MCU into designs as needed.
• Design and develop power supplies for the system.
• Create Spice simulations and test benches for power and control circuits.
• Create schematics and work with PCB layout to implement boards.
• Review layouts to ensure target performance.
• Collaborate with firmware/software teams for board-level diagnostics.
• Design test plans, bring-up, and EDVT.
• Bring up, test, and debug new PCB hardware.
• Document results and lead design reviews.
