Job summary

Nokia is seeking a Mechanical Development Team Project Leader in the Optical Modules Group to design and develop cutting-edge opto-electronic devices for next-generation high-speed network products. You will lead a multidisciplinary engineering team across locations, guiding package and module designs to meet cost, schedule, and performance goals.

This role emphasizes collaboration, rigorous design reviews, and DFM/RCCA interactions with suppliers.

Qualifications

MS in Mechanical Engineering required.
5-10 years of mechanical design and/or product development experience.
Proven project management and/or project leadership experience.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Nice-to-have: design using 3D CAD and solid modeling tools, FEA familiarity, and Agile methodologies.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage a high-performing engineering product development team to deliver innovative mechanical designs aligned with cost, schedule, and performance goals.
Develop comprehensive project plans and schedules, ensuring coordination across multiple disciplines and teams.
Facilitate regular team meetings, set agendas, track actions, and document outcomes.
Conduct technical reviews, including DFMEA, design analyses, risk assessments, and qualification plans.
Collaborate with suppliers on DFM reviews, RCCA, and procurement processes to resolve part issues.
Assess resources, headcount, budget, and scheduling needs to optimize team efficiency.
Prepare and present detailed project status reports to upper management and cross-functional teams.
