Job summary

Orange County Public Schools seeks a skilled HVAC trades professional to perform master level installation, maintenance and repair across district facilities. You will read blueprints, diagnose faults, service air conditioning and heating systems, and ensure safe, compliant operation.

The role emphasizes independence, reliability, and proactive maintenance to provide comfortable, environmentally safe air quality for districts. A valid CDL and IPCS training are required or pursued.

Qualifications

• Vocational/technical training in heating, air conditioning, refrigeration and ventilation.
• Minimum 5 years progressively knowledgeable and skilled trades work in large commercial/industrial settings.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams and technical specifications.
• Must obtain and maintain a valid commercial driver's license class D; refrigerant handling/training required.
• Must complete IPCS screening per policy.

Responsibilities

• Respond to internal/external customers with courtesy and professionalism.
• Perform master level HVAC trades work in installation, repair, maintenance and service.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams and manuals for installations or service orders.
• Install, service or replace HVAC components and systems, including controls and sensors.
• Perform preventive maintenance and monitor system performance.
• Troubleshoot and repair control systems (electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic).
• Ensure compliance with codes and safety standards.
