Job summary

Virginia Beach City Public Schools seeks an HVAC technician to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain HVAC systems across our facilities. You will read blueprints, manage work orders, and coordinate with vendors and staff to ensure reliable climate control.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, CFC certification, and 3+ years of experience in the trade, with a valid driver’s license and strong safety awareness.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of trade practices, tools and safety precautions.
• Ability to read blueprints, plans and drawings to determine requirements.
• Proficiency in computers and job-related software.
• Must meet physical requirements and possess a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate projects, determine scope, estimates for materials and personnel.
• Inspect workloads and supervise contractors and staff.
• Manage maintenance for assigned schools/facilities via work orders and PMs.
• Coordinate with dispatch and other trades; maintain records and inventory.
• Install, repair and maintain HVAC equipment per manufacturer specs.
