Job summary

LB&B Associates Inc. in Charlotte, NC, is seeking a full-time HVAC Mechanic to support maintenance at the Mecklenburg County Courthouse. The role requires diagnosing, repairing, and optimizing HVAC systems, including chillers, boilers, air handlers, and BAS, with a focus on safety and indoor air quality.

Monday–Friday, 7:00am–3:30pm; on-call possible. Candidates should have 5–10 years of HVAC experience, NC HVAC license (H1/H2 or Master), EPA Section 608 Universal, and strong troubleshooting

Qualifications

• Minimum 5–10 years of HVAC experience, preferably in commercial or government facilities.
• EPA Section 608 Certification (Universal) required.
• North Carolina HVAC License H1 or H2 or Master HVAC License required.
• OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics and technical manuals.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, and repair HVAC systems, including chillers, boilers, air handlers, and control systems.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues in heating and cooling systems and perform necessary repairs.
• Conduct routine preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment to ensure operational efficiency.
• Monitor and adjust BAS to optimize temperature, humidity, and air quality.
• Respond promptly to service calls and work orders to resolve HVAC-related issues in a timely manner.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal HVAC regulations, safety codes, and building standards.
• Assist with the installation and commissioning of new HVAC equipment as needed.
• Collaborate with other maintenance staff to ensure seamless facility operations.
• Follow all workplace safety procedures and use PPE as required.
