Job summary

LB&B Associates is seeking a full-time HVAC Mechanic to support the Mecklenburg County Courthouse in Charlotte, NC. You will diagnose, repair, and optimize HVAC systems while ensuring code compliance and safety.

The role requires 5–10 years of HVAC experience, EPA 608 Universal certification, and NC HVAC license. Working hours are 7:00am–3:30pm, Monday–Friday, with ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate in varying conditions.

Qualifications

  • 5–10 years of HVAC experience, preferably in commercial or government facilities.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred.
  • EPA Section 608 Certification (Universal) is required.
  • North Carolina HVAC License H1 or H2, or Master HVAC License is required.
  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, maintain, and repair HVAC systems at the Mecklenburg County Courthouse.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues and perform repairs.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance for operational efficiency.
  • Monitor BAS to optimize temperature, humidity, and air quality.
  • Respond to service calls and complete work orders promptly.
  • Keep accurate records of inspections and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with HVAC regulations and safety codes.
  • Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment.
  • Collaborate with maintenance staff for seamless operations.
  • Follow safety procedures and use PPE as required.

LB&B Associates is seeking a full time HVAC Mechanic to support our contract to maintain, repair, and optimize heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems at the Mecklenburg County Courthouse, Charlotte NC. This position requires expertise in diagnosing and troubleshooting HVAC systems, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and maintaining optimal indoor air quality.

Working Schedule: Monday through Friday / 7:00am - 3:30pm.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair HVAC systems, including chillers, boilers, air handlers, and control systems.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues in heating and cooling systems and perform necessary repairs.
  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Monitor and adjust building automation systems (BAS) to optimize temperature, humidity, and air quality.
  • Respond promptly to service calls and work orders to resolve HVAC-related issues in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal HVAC regulations, safety codes, and building standards.
  • Assist with the installation and commissioning of new HVAC equipment as needed.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance staff to ensure seamless facility operations.
  • Follow all workplace safety procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum 5-10 years of HVAC experience, preferably in commercial or government facilities.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical school or apprenticeship preferred.
  • Licensing & Certifications: EPA Section 608 Certification (Universal) - Required
  • Licensing & Certifications: North Carolina HVAC License H1 or H2 - or Master HVAC License - Required
  • Licensing & Certifications: OSHA 10 or 30 certification - Preferred
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, electrical controls, and mechanical operations.
  • Experience with building automation systems (BAS).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures and environmental conditions.
