Job summary

IES Residential, Inc. is seeking an experienced HVAC Superintendent in Austin, TX to lead field crews and foremen on residential and light commercial sites. You will coordinate manpower, schedules, safety, and quality to meet timelines and code requirements.

Candidates should have 5+ years in HVAC with supervisory experience, strong blueprint reading, and proven leadership. You will partner with project managers, ensure OSHA standards, manage documentation, and uphold a safety-first culture.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of HVAC experience.
• At least 5 years of supervisory or leadership experience within HVAC or construction operations.
• Experience managing manpower planning, job costing, construction quality, and field operations.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, materials, equipment, installation methods, tools, and construction practices.
• Strong knowledge of workplace safety practices, OSHA requirements, applicable building codes, and industry standards.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, project plans, specifications, and other project documentation.
• Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to effectively lead, coach, and develop HVAC field personnel.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong organizational, multitasking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to identify and resolve job site issues, manpower conflicts, scheduling concerns, and operational challenges.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced construction environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
• Ability to pass pre-employment screenings such as background and motor vehicle record checks.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English as necessary to understand safety procedures, project requirements, and effectively communicate with field teams.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Maintain professionalism and a positive, respectful demeanor with customers, coworkers, vendors, subcontractors, and business partners.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily HVAC construction and field operations across assigned residential and light commercial job sites.
• Lead HVAC foremen and field crews to ensure productivity, safety, installation quality, and project requirements are consistently met.
• Plan workforce needs and allocate manpower efficiently across assigned projects.
• Coordinate with project managers to maintain project schedules, budgets, job costing, productivity, and installation quality.
• Review project plans, specifications, field drawings, schedules, and operational requirements to support accurate and timely project execution.
• Coordinate with preconstruction and drafting teams to ensure field drawings and project documentation are accurate and up to date.
• Monitor job progress, daily reports, inspections, site conditions, productivity, safety, and quality throughout all phases of construction.
• Attend production, coordination, and job site meetings as required.
• Identify and resolve field challenges, manpower conflicts, scheduling delays, safety concerns, and coordination issues with other trades.
• Coordinate with project managers, customers, office staff, vendors, subcontractors, and field teams regarding project schedules and operational requirements.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA safety standards, applicable building codes, and operational procedures.
• Conduct safety observations, reinforce safe work practices, and promote a safe and accountable work culture across field crews.
• Maintain accurate job site documentation, reports, inspections, and project records.
• Assist with workforce planning, scheduling, material coordination, and equipment usage.
• Provide leadership, coaching, training, and support to HVAC foremen and field personnel to improve performance, productivity, and trade knowledge.
• Support training initiatives for field leadership, material handling procedures, trade skill assessments, and employee onboarding evaluations.
• Collaborate with training teams and field leadership to enhance HVAC trade training and employee development programs.
• Maintain professionalism and excellent customer service at all times.
• Perform additional administrative and operational support tasks as needed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
