Job summary

The State of Florida's Department of Corrections is seeking a Senior Refrigeration Mechanic for the Gadsden Re-Entry Center. This role supports the maintenance department, installing and repairing HVAC, refrigeration, and related systems, and trains inmates under supervision.

Primary duties include maintaining refrigerant records, diagnosing HVAC/closed-loop problems, and performing preventative maintenance across facilities. A high school diploma and valid driver's license are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 1+ year HVAC experience, or 4+ years HVAC experience.
• Valid Driver's License required.

Responsibilities

• Install and repair HVAC and refrigeration systems and food service equipment; train inmates.
• Maintain records on refrigerant use and perform preventive maintenance.
• Install electronic, pneumatic, and digital control systems and diagnose HVAC/closed loop issues.
• Perform HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building preventive maintenance; prepare reports.
• Maintain custody of supervised inmates and prepare progress reports.
