Senior Refrigeration Mechanic - Statewide
Job Duties
- Responsible for the installation and repair of HVAC and refrigeration systems, as well as food service equipment, and provides on-the-job training to supervised inmates.
- Maintains records on refrigerant use and recovery in compliance with DEP regulations and performs technical preventive maintenance on various HVAC systems.
- Installs new electronic, pneumatic, and digital control systems, and diagnoses problems with HVAC and closed‑loop systems.
- Performs tasks related to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building preventive maintenance, and prepares necessary reports as directed by the Maintenance Superintendent.
- Maintains custody and control of supervised inmates, prepares progress reports for their rehabilitation, and participates in required departmental staff training.

Requirements
- A high school diploma or its equivalent and at least one (1) year of experience in the HVAC field **OR** four or more years of experience in the HVAC field (College or vocational/technical training in one of the above listed trades can substitute for the required experience).
- A valid Driver's License is also required.
- Must pass a Level 2 background check as required by Florida law.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the U.S.; applicants must comply with the Department's E‑Verify and I‑9 procedures.
