Job summary

Florida Department of Corrections is seeking a Senior Refrigeration Mechanic at Mayo Correctional Institution in the Maintenance Department. This role focuses on the installation, repair, and preventive maintenance of HVAC and refrigeration systems, including training supervised inmates and maintaining regulatory compliance.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent with HVAC experience and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 1 year of HVAC experience OR 4+ years of HVAC experience.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• Experience with record keeping and regulatory compliance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install and repair HVAC and refrigeration systems and train supervised inmates.
• Maintain records on refrigerant use and recovery per DEP regulations and perform preventive maintenance.
• Install new electronic, pneumatic, and digital control systems; diagnose HVAC and closed-loop issues.
• Perform HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building preventive maintenance; prepare required reports.
• Maintain custody and control of supervised inmates and prepare progress reports.
