Job summary

Walmart seeks an experienced HVAC/R technician to oversee installation, commissioning, and maintenance of refrigeration and environmental control systems at our Greensboro stores. You will diagnose complex refrigerant, electrical, and mechanical issues and drive compliance with OSHA and EPA standards.

Lead field teams, mentor junior technicians, manage parts and vendor relations, and participate in after-hours on-call support. A strong preventive maintenance mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• 3 years’ experience in HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration.
• 6 years’ experience in HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration and AAS in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.
• Hold and maintain EPA Type I and Type II or Universal certification for refrigerant handling.
• HVAC-R/Mechanical Journeyman where required.
• 1 year experience in plumbing, electrical, or related area or 2 years Walmart store experience.
• Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report.
• Commercial driving record with no major violations in last 5 years.

Responsibilities

• Oversees installation and commissioning of HVAC/R systems including ductwork and control panels.
• Leads diagnostics and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant issues across commercial and industrial systems.
• Implements preventive maintenance programs to extend equipment life and reduce downtimes.
• Manages supermarket refrigeration units and rack systems for optimal performance.
• Submits vouchers, work orders, and maintenance logs; enters notes with photos.
• Ensures OSHA and EPA refrigerant handling compliance.
• Leads field teams, mentors technicians, and coordinates service calls.
• participates in on-call rotation for after-hours support.
• Tracks parts inventory and coordinates with vendors.
