Job summary

City of New Orleans seeks an experienced mechanic supervisor to operate and maintain heating, air conditioning and other mechanical equipment in a major public facility. The role may rotate among 15 library locations as needed.

Applicants must hold 2nd Class Air Conditioning or Refrigeration and 2nd Class Boilers licenses; a background in troubleshooting control circuits is preferred; the civil service process uses a noncompetitive original entrance examination.

Qualifications

• Experience in operation and maintenance of heating, air conditioning and mechanical systems in a large public facility.
• Licenses required: 2nd Class Air Conditioning or Refrigeration and 2nd Class Boilers.
• Experience with troubleshooting control circuits preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain heating, air conditioning and mechanical equipment in a large public building or complex.
• Supervise maintenance staff and coordinate with a pool of engineers for multiple locations (15 libraries).
• Assist with related work as required and ensure compliance with licensing requirements.
