Job summary

Air Systems Maintenance, Inc. (ASM) is actively seeking a Mechanical Estimator with a strong background in commercial HVAC and mechanical contracting. This role will independently manage the estimating process, delivering accurate, competitive bids with minimal training.

The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, takeoffs, project costs and margins, and established relationships with vendors and subcontractors.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of mechanical/HVAC estimating experience preferred.
• Must have experience with a commercial mechanical or HVAC contractor.
• Strong understanding of commercial HVAC and mechanical systems, including RTUs, chillers, boilers, piping, pumps, controls, and related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate estimates, quotes, and bid proposals for commercial HVAC and mechanical projects.
• Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents and perform detailed equipment and piping takeoffs.
• Conduct site visits, project walk-downs, and bid walks to evaluate scope and field conditions.
• Obtain and analyze pricing from vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Develop accurate labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs and establish appropriate project margins.
• Maintain and leverage strong relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and clients.
• Manage multiple bids and ensure proposals are accurate, competitive, and submitted on time.
• Follow up on bids and work with management and clients throughout the bidding process.
• Identify scope gaps, cost risks, and opportunities for value engineering or cost savings.
