Facilities Management's Health System Physical Plant at the University of Virginia is seeking an experienced Senior HVAC Mechanic who provides expertise in the HVAC field. The incumbent will inspect, provide skilled repair, maintenance, and installation of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. The Senior HVAC Mechanic establishes schedules for preventive maintenance of equipment and provides technical guidance and trains lower‑level mechanics and/or apprentices. This role handles complex assignments and troubleshooting and serves as a senior worker in teams.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: A minimum of seven years of HVAC experience is required. Experience working in a hospital or clinical environment is strongly preferred. Experience with HVAC controls and building automation systems is a plus.
Licensure: Journeyman or higher HVAC license required. Valid Driver's License.
The Anticipated Hiring Range for this position is $29.00 - $34.00 per hour ($60,320 - $70,720 per year). New hires to the University are eligible for a $2,500 sign‑on bonus. This is a full-time position with UVA benefits.
