Job summary

Astrion seeks an HVAC Engineer for NASA Ames Research Center, Mountain View, CA. The role is the SME for HVAC systems, focusing on QA, contract oversight, and long-range capital planning to modernize infrastructure and support mission readiness.

The position emphasizes compliance with ASHRAE 62.1/90.1, energy codes, and EPA refrigerant management, with strong communication to project teams and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, MET or relevant field with 5–10 years in commercial/industrial HVAC.
• In lieu of a degree, 12+ years of hands-on HVAC operation, maintenance and oversight experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop a 5–10 year master plan for HVAC infrastructure and modernization.
• Verify compliance with federal/state mandates and ASHRAE standards.
• Ensure all work adheres to energy codes and EPA refrigerant management regulations and OSHA standards.
• Provide technical requirements for equipment replacement and emergency repairs.
• Lead root-cause analyses for major equipment failures and mitigation strategies.
• Review engineering drawings and modeling and perform design reviews.
• Support equipment replacement RFIs/quotes to ensure technical compliance.
• Forecast, plan, and track project performance with PMs and staff.
• Interface with Government, contractors, and project partners for updates and status.
• Prepare monthly, annual, and milestone project assessments and reports.
