Job summary

Minnehaha County is seeking an HVAC Technician to join our facilities team in Sioux Falls. You will work on a range of systems from aging equipment to new technologies, troubleshooting and repairing to ensure comfort and reliability.

The role offers a steady M–F schedule (7:00 AM–3:30 PM), local work only, tools provided, and county-paid safety gear. Benefits include health/dental/life insurance, generous PTO, holidays, and retirement plans.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with four years of work experience in equipment repair, plumbing, HVAC, or electrical.
• Two years of vocational school may substitute for two years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled installation, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial HVAC systems.
• Service and maintain boilers, chillers, rooftop units, air handling units, VAV boxes, pneumatic and DDC controls.
• Diagnose and repair electrical components related to HVAC systems, including motor controls and switchgear.
• Perform basic plumbing tasks related to HVAC, e.g., soldering copper pipe, replacing valves and fittings.
• Read blueprints and technical diagrams; ensure compliance with codes and safety standards.
• Collaborate with a skilled team to support building comfort, efficiency, and system reliability.
