Job summary

Minnehaha County invites applications for an HVAC Technician to join our facilities team to work maintaining and repairing systems in a variety of buildings. You'll work on everything from older systems to the latest technology—perfect for techs who like to troubleshoot, problem-solve, and learn something new every day.

You'll have a steady schedule and local work only, with tools provided and county gear included.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED plus four years of work experience in equipment repair, HVAC, plumbing, or electrical.
Two years of vocational school may substitute for two years of experience.
Technical training and considerable experience with HVAC equipment, electrical, or plumbing.
Possession of a valid driver's license and must maintain a safe driving record with Minnehaha County.
Must successfully complete pre-employment background process.

Responsibilities

Perform skilled installation, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial HVAC systems.
Service and maintain boilers, chillers, rooftop units, air handling units, VAV boxes, pneumatic and DDC controls.
Diagnose and repair electrical components related to HVAC systems, including motor controls and switchgear.
Perform basic plumbing tasks related to HVAC (e.g., soldering copper pipe, replacing valves and fittings).
Read blueprints and technical diagrams; ensure compliance with codes and safety standards.
Collaborate with a skilled team to support building comfort, efficiency, and system reliability.
