Job summary

Design Hire is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to design HVAC and hydronic systems for complex commercial and institutional projects in Liverpool, United States.

The role involves HVAC calculations, equipment sizing, coordination with project teams, and contributions to decarbonization and electrification efforts. A Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering and 8–10 years of relevant experience are preferred; proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is required or preferred.
• 8–10 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience with HVAC and hydronic system design.
• Experience with Geothermal System Design and high-efficiency or renewable mechanical systems.
• Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD for mechanical design, documentation, and coordination.
• Strong understanding of HVAC equipment, piping, controls, system performance, and applicable design standards.
• Ability to develop practical engineering solutions balancing performance, constructability, and energy efficiency.
• Strong analytical, communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering teams on complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop HVAC System Design solutions for complex commercial and institutional projects from concept through construction documentation.
• Design and evaluate District Energy System and Hydronic System Design solutions, including central plant and building distribution.
• Perform HVAC Design Calculations, equipment sizing, system evaluations, and analyses to support project requirements and decisions.
• Contribute to Decarbonization & Electrification Projects by evaluating efficient mechanical system strategies and energy technologies.
• Coordinate mechanical designs with project teams and support technical reviews, field investigations, client discussions, and construction-phase activities.
