Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking an Operations & Maintenance Specialist for on-campus sites at the University of Kansas. You will maintain the Integrated Science Building, Central Utility Plant, Burge Student Union and housing facilities, applying hands-on mechanical, electrical and BAS knowledge in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Requires two-year technical degree or two years’ experience as an Operations & Maintenance Specialist II, or completion of an apprenticeship program.
• Requires five or more years’ experience in operations and maintenance.
• Requires in-depth knowledge of maintenance fundamentals.
• Must be able to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to participate on call rotation.
• Must be able to use hand and power tools or man lift.
• Basic Electrical system working knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Service, repair, maintain, monitor and adjust HVAC systems.
• Perform general maintenance and custodial tasks including carpentry, painting, plumbing and minor grounds keeping.
• Provide direction and training to less experienced O&M Specialists.
• Plan, select, and lay out materials for service and preventive maintenance.
• Operate tools and machines incidental to operations.
• Requisition new supplies and equipment.
• Adhere to safety procedures and company policies.
• Participate in on-call rotations as required.
