Job summary

Brown and Caldwell is seeking a Senior Building Mechanical (HVAC) Engineer to lead complex HVAC, plumbing, and fire sprinkler calculations for commercial buildings and wastewater facilities. The role requires interpreting mechanical, plumbing, building, and fire codes as well as NFPA standards, and involves drafting and modeling using AutoCAD and Revit.

The position supports the Eastern United States with hybrid work from East offices or remote work with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• Typically requires minimum 5 years of building mechanical engineering experience.
• Pursuing or holding a professional engineering license (PE) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive HVAC, plumbing, and fire sprinkler calculations for projects.
• Interpret codes and NFPA standards and apply them in work.
• Size ductwork, plumbing, and fire sprinkler systems for optimal functionality.
• Draft and model systems using AutoCAD and Revit; develop detailed specifications in Word and Speclink.
• Review drawings/specifications for accuracy and coordinate with other disciplines.
• Mentor less experienced team members.
