Job summary

Anne Arundel County Public Schools is seeking a Mechanic IV: HVAC Boiler to lead a small crew in advanced maintenance and repair of steam, hot water, and condensing boiler systems. The role involves hands-on service, scheduling, and inspection, with readiness for emergencies and complex tasks.

PPE is required and attention to safety is essential. The position reports to the OPS Program Manager: Plumbing, within the Facilities department, and requires Maryland HVACR licensing and a strong record

Qualifications

• Six years mechanical equipment service or operator experience in a commercial/educational environment.
• HVACR Journeyman license required; Maryland licensing preferred for advanced roles.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics and supervise on-site crews.
• Strong communication and safety practices for complex boiler systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the maintenance and repair of steam, hot water, and condensing boiler systems.
• Plan work, assign tasks, and inspect completed boiler-related duties.
• Perform preventive maintenance, calibrations, and safety checks on boilers.
• Respond to emergencies and coordinate with management for critical repairs.
• Read plans and orders, manage inventory, and ensure proper PPE usage.
• Train staff on safe practices and boiler operation procedures.
