Job summary

Anne Arundel County Public Schools is seeking a Senior Engineer: Facilities to operate boiler(s) and maintain a variety of mechanical equipment at an assigned secondary school facility. The role requires ensuring safety, sanitary, and security standards and may involve driving to tasks as needed based on location.

This senior position oversees custodians, plans preventive maintenance, and maintains records of inspections and repairs. Driving may be required based on assignment within the county.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalency Certificate required.
• Five (5) years building mechanical equipment service or operator experience required.

Responsibilities

• Makes minor repairs and emergency repairs and adjustments (e.g., cleaning clogged plumbing fixtures, replacing bulbs, ballasts, and fuses).
• Prepares the facility to open by inspecting facility and grounds to ensure maintenance, safety, sanitary, and security standards are met.
• Operates boiler and maintains all mechanical equipment; logs readings from gauges for proper operation; checks water level/steam pressure for safety; performs boiler safety checks.
• Maintains records of area inspections, training, inventory, and equipment repairs.
• Performs preventive maintenance on equipment (belts, filters, drains); inspects roof top units and exhaust fans; services as needed.
• Oversees, plans, assigns, and instructs custodians on cleaning procedures and proper use of supplies and equipment.
• Supervises and participates in the snow removal program as required.
• Performs other related duties within the same classification or lower.
