Job summary

Redwood Materials is seeking a Substation Protection and Control Engineer to join our EPC team. You will lead HV substation design (69kV to 345kV), perform relay settings, protection studies, and coordinate with utilities to support interconnection for renewable and storage projects.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in HV design, PE license in NV, and strong experience with PSSE/PSLF/PSCAD. Join us to help build a sustainable circular economy for batteries.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from ABET accredited program.
• Licensed Professional Engineer in Nevada or eligible for reciprocity; must obtain NV and SC PE within 2 months.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in high voltage electrical design, preferably in EPC environments.
• Proficiency with transmission-level load flow and stability tools (PSSE/PSLF).
• Experience with protection and control design and relay coordination.

Responsibilities

• Lead HV substation design for industrial projects (69kV–345kV) and integration with transmission lines.
• Perform grid studies including short-circuit, load flow, and arc flash analyses.
• Develop single-line diagrams, layouts, protection and control systems, and grounding plans.
• Coordinate interconnection studies with utilities and ISO/RTOs for renewable and storage projects.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in design optimization workshops.
