Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Senior Substation Physical Engineer to provide technical leadership in our Power and Energy practice. You will lead HV substation design projects ranging from 230kV to 345kV, serve as Engineer of Record, and mentor a growing team of engineers and designers.

This role requires collaboration across disciplines, strong client relationship skills, and a commitment to quality. The position offers a hybrid work model with locations across multiple states and up to 10% travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional engineering (PE) license required.
• 15 years of related experience; travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, execution, and delivery of HV substation projects from 230kV to 345kV.
• Serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) and technical authority for substation physical design, including AIS/GIS substations, grounding and station service systems.
• Review and approve engineering deliverables, studies, and calculations to ensure they meet client requirements and standards.
• Mentor engineering staff and lead, develop, and grow a team of engineers and designers.
• Support business development activities and maintain client relationships.
