Job summary

Hut 8 Corp. in Florida seeks a Protection & Controls Engineer to design and validate HV protection schemes for our data-center HV networks, reporting to the Principal, HV Engineering. You will lead protection coordination, relay settings development, and field support during commissioning across substations and interconnections serving Hut 8 campuses.

Requires 5+ years in HV protection/controls, a B.S. in Electrical Engineering (PE preferred), experience with SEL relays, ASPEN/CAPE for studies,

Qualifications

• 5+ years of protection and controls engineering for HV substations, transmission, or utility interconnections (69kV-345kV).
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; PE license preferred.
• Strong hands-on depth with protective relaying - scheme design, settings development, and event analysis.
• Coordination and fault study fluency in ASPEN or CAPE; defend your settings to a utility.
• Working knowledge of NERC PRC standards and interconnection protection processes.
• Commissioning experience: relay functional testing, end-to-end tests with NETA crews.
• SCADA/RTU and fiber communications familiarity.
• Willing to travel 20-35%.

Responsibilities

• Develop protection schemes for HV substations and interconnection facilities.
• Review relay settings and protection coordination studies.
• Support interconnection protection requirements and utility testing.
• Assist commissioning with relay testing and energization field work.
• Build and maintain Hut 8's P&C standards, templates, and testing requirements.
