Job summary

Avantus, a leading independent power producer, seeks a Principal Engineer, HV Engineering to own high-voltage infrastructure across solar, storage, and hybrid projects. You will lead design, standards, and coordination with utilities, EPCs, and vendors from development through construction and operations.

The role requires extensive HV experience, strong communication, and project leadership to deliver reliable energy systems within a fast-growing clean energy portfolio.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• 10+ years of HV engineering experience.
• Extensive experience with substations, switchyards, transmission lines, and interconnections up to 500kV.
• Experience with utility-scale solar, BESS, hybrid energy, or large-scale power infrastructure.
• Experience managing owner-furnished HV equipment and multiple engineering firms/contractors.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for HV engineering across projects up to 500kV.
• Establish design standards and long-term infrastructure strategies.
• Act as Owner's technical interface with utilities, EPCs, consultants and vendors.
• Support interconnection requirements, RFIs, and power system studies.
• Lead routing, siting and design for transmission lines and interconnection facilities.
• Coordinate Owner's Engineers, EPCs, and utilities throughout lifecycle.
