Job summary

The Haartz Corporation in Acton, MA is seeking a Senior Human Resources Specialist to administer benefits programs and manage leaves in compliance with state and federal laws. This full-time, on-site role emphasizes leave management, vendor relations, regulatory compliance and accurate reporting.

Ideal candidates will have 5+ years in HR, strong knowledge of FMLA/PFML, experience with HRIS and UKG Ready, and excellent communication skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a human resources environment including at least three years administering benefits and leaves.
  • Knowledge of FMLA, PFML, STD, LTD, ADA, COBRA and other applicable laws.
  • Experience with HRIS systems and MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Lead leave administration for all leave types (FMLA, PFML, STD, LTD, ADA, etc.) and ensure timely responses and compliance.
  • Administer employee benefits, coordinate vendor relationships, and oversee annual open enrollment and billing.
  • Develop and maintain processes for tracking, reporting, and compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Collaborate with safety, payroll, and HR teams to ensure seamless benefits and leave administration.

Job Summary

Haartz has an exciting opportunity to join our HR team as a Senior Human Resources Specialist. This position’s primary responsibilities include administering the company’s benefits programs and managing leaves in accordance with state and federal laws. Key responsibilities include leave management, benefits administration including vendor/broker relationships, regulatory and plan compliance, reporting, billing audits. Position is full-time and on-site in Acton, MA.

Successful candidates will be responsible for maintaining a high standard of employee service, responsiveness, confidentiality, and professionalism. They will also be system savvy, analytical and detail oriented with excellent communication, organizational and time management skills as well as a strong work ethic and like working in a fast-paced team environment. Position is onsite and hours may include working some evenings based on the needs of the business.

Leave Administration
  • Serve as primary point of contact for employees, supervisors, managers and HR team for all types of leaves (FMLA, PFML, STD, LTD, ADA, etc.)
  • Provide support and guidance when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodation. This involves ensuring streamlined communication and adherence to company policies.
  • Assist and collaborate with the safety group to ensure all workers’ compensation claims run concurrently with appropriate federal and state leave programs
  • Serve as liaison between employees and leave vendor to ensure streamlined communication and adherence to company policies
  • Ensures medical certification and return to work requirements are provided by employees and communicated internally as needed
  • Ensure adherence to all state laws, federal laws and established internal policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Develop and maintain clear processes, documentation and tracking systems
  • Compile leave data and analyze for leave-related trends. Completes leave related reporting as needed
Benefits Administration
  • Serve as primary point of contact for employees, supervisors, managers and HR team for all company benefits
  • Support daily benefits administration for employee benefit programs such as group health insurance, dental, vision, life, flex spending, disability programs
  • Ensures regulatory and plan compliance
  • Conduct benefits orientation and education meetings, assist with coordinating annual open enrollment process.
  • Completes benefit related reporting as needed
  • Communicate with vendors acting as liaison between employees and benefit service providers in a timely, compassionate, confidential and reassuring manner.This includes working with benefits broker and vendors of all benefits programs including health, dental, vision, and other supplemental benefits ensuring regulatory and plan compliance.
  • Lead annual open enrollment process, processing life events, COBRA event processing using UKG to streamline the administrative functions.
  • Completes benefit related reporting, as needed.
  • Ensure all benefit related invoices are reviewed and processed for payment in a timely manner.
  • Drive employee education and engagement with benefit programs.
  • Assist employees and HR with benefit enrollment/changes within required time limits to meet payroll and enrollment deadlines (including qualifying life events and annual open enrollment).
  • Support employee events, activities, and recognition programs, ensuring alignment with company culture.
Required Skills
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a human resource environment including at least three years administering benefits and leaves.
  • Knowledge and experience with employee benefits and applicable laws including FMLA, PFML, STD, LTD, ADA, COBRA
  • Experience working with HRIS system required.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to listen and understand the needs of employees, together with those of the company.
  • High integrity and demonstrated credibility.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Highly proficient in Excel, PPT and other MS Office applications.
  • A high aptitude for systems, confidentiality, creative problem solving, understanding detail and data integrity
Preferred Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in HR or related field is strongly preferred.
  • PHR and/or SHRM CP designations preferred.
  • Experience with UKG Ready preferred.
  • Experience working in Manufacturing or similar industry strongly preferred
