POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior HR Generalist serves as a trusted partner to the leaders and employees across all office and manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for employee relations, benefits administration, recruitment support, policy administration, employee engagement, compliance, and HR process improvement.
The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, balancing strategic initiatives with hands-on HR support while helping lead and develop the HR team.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Employee Relations & HR Support
- Serve as a primary HR resource for employees and supervisors across multiple shifts, maintaining confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive employee data.
- Coach leaders on employee relations matters, performance management, attendance issues, and workplace concerns.
- Conduct investigations and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Foster a positive employee culture and high levels of employee engagement.
- Consistently adhere to and support all Food Safety, GMP, Personal Safety and Company Policy standards.
Benefit and Leave Administration
- Execute day-to-day administration of benefit and leave programs across all plans and employee hierarchy.
- Act as the primary point of contact for employee benefit inquiries, resolving issues and improving employee experience.
- Coordinate annual open enrollment and employee benefits education.
- Partner with benefit providers and executive leadership to review plan performance and support strategy decisions.
- Conduct regular audits of billing, programs and processes to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Serve as an expert on all statutory compliance relating to benefit and leave plans (ACA, ADA, FMLA, ERISA, etc.) ensuring compliance with all federal, state and local requirements.
- Develop and drive wellness initiatives and benefit education efforts consistent in scope with executive leadership.
- Provide day-to-day direction, coaching, and development to the HR Generalist and HR Assistant.
- Ensure professional, timely and accurate execution of HR processes and employee services.
- Promote collaboration and continuous improvement within the HR team.
- Act as a back up and resource for administrative, payroll and recruiting functions performed by members of the HR team.
- Support HR-led employee events and engagement activities.
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
- Support the HR team with recruiting efforts for manufacturing, technical, professional, and leadership positions.
- Oversee HR onboarding activities to ensure a positive new-hire experience.
- Partner with managers to build effective workforce plans.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- Bachelor's degree in related field required.
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification required.
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a 24/7/365 family-owned manufacturing environment using Paylocity or other HRIS platforms.
- Previous experience leading or mentoring HR staff required.
- Physically and emotionally able to work onsite, full-time, Monday - Friday, 8:15am -5:15pm.
- Strong experience with employee relations and benefits administration.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws, FMLA, ADA, workers' compensation, and HR best practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Dependable, energetic and self-motivated with a high standard of excellence.
- Professional but pleasant personality with a positive attitude and a sense of fun.
- Ability to effectively communicate with team members of diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities and deadlines with a sense of urgency and follow through.
- Acts as a critical thinker when balancing business needs with employee needs amid unique situations.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, documentation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to perform all duties with the highest degree of confidentiality and sensitivity.
