Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Senior Human Resources Business Partner to join our growing team! In this high-impact Human Resources role, you'll deliver core HR functions that align seamlessly with business objectives within a dedicated business unit. Acting as a strategic partner, you'll advise managers and employees on a wide range of HR matters-building trust, solving challenges, and creating pathways for employee growth and retention.

You'll play a key role in shaping a positive workplace culture by implementing programs that support the company's strategic goals. To succeed, you'll bring a deep understanding of business operations, strong team collaboration, and the emotional intelligence to navigate sensitive situations with professionalism and discretion. Please note that this role requires on-site presence at one of our U.S. based offices, operating within a flexible hybrid work mode.


Responsibilities

  • Consult with managers and employees on complex HR related subject matter and employee relations issues, work to effectively resolve issues and conflict while weighing all legal obligations and minimizing risk.
  • Manage and resolve employee relations and disciplinary issues, conducting thorough, effective, and objective investigations. Ensure proper documentation is maintained.
  • Perform terminations of employment with managers adhering to Company procedures.
  • Conduct exit interviews and provide feedback as applicable.
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of all federal, state and local labor laws, reducing legal risk and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Supervises HR Business Partner(s) and/or Representative(s), managing their workload and providing mentorship for their advancement.
  • Provide support and consultation to the hiring managers and the Talent Acquisition team throughout the recruitment and selection process, including job posting creation, resume review/interviewing and determining offer details.
  • Collaborate with the Compensation Team on the development and maintenance of the Company compensation structure, evaluating and monitoring for fair and competitive pay practices.
  • Manage the onboarding process for employees to maximize the employee experience.
  • Provide day to day performance management guidance and support to managers as well as support during annual and semi-annual performance evaluations.
  • Work closely with the Compensation Team to develop and utilize job descriptions.
  • Develop and maintain career paths and related materials, communication and training employees and managers on the effective implementation of such materials.
  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention.
  • Participate in employee activities.
  • Identify training needs and collaborate with the Knowledge and Learning Team to deliver the training.
  • Work closely with the HR Operations Team to communicate all employment status changes, leaves of absence, promotions, etc. ensuring accuracy of data in HRIS and payroll.
  • Participate in regular meetings.
  • Special projects and other related tasks as needed.
  • Collaborate closely with Talent Acquisition (TA) representatives to review and approve job postings and ensure alignment with compensation guidelines.
  • Support the interview and selection process and finalize offer letters to ensure consistency, compliance, and a positive candidate experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management or related field.
  • 5-8 years of related experience.
  • 3+ years in people management.
  • SHRM-CP preferred.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.

Compensation: $95,000 - $130,000 per year (depending on qualifications)
