Position: Senior Human Resource Coordinator

Department: Oden Institute

Location: UT Main Campus

Hours: 40 per week

FLSA Status: Exempt

Start Date: Immediately

The Oden Institute fosters interdisciplinary programs in computational sciences and engineering, computational medicine, geosciences, mathematical modeling, applied mathematics, data science, software engineering, and visualization.

Purpose

The Senior HR Coordinator will support the full employment lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits, and compliance. The role requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional committed to HR excellence in an academic setting.

Responsibilities
  1. Manage recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and offboarding, ensuring compliance with university policies.
  2. Consult with hiring managers on staffing needs and employment requirements.
  3. Oversee HR compliance processes like background checks, visas, I-9 verification, in collaboration with Texas Global.
  4. Provide guidance on policies, payroll, employment, and training to employees, students, and managers.
  5. Process HR transactions, prepare reports, and improve workflows.
  6. Address employee inquiries and refer to campus resources as needed.
  7. Support HR process improvements and professional development initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of HR experience.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information tactfully.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Experience in high-volume office environments managing deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
  • More than 5 years of experience.
  • SHRM-CP or similar certification.
  • Experience with faculty and university policies.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions.
  • Experience with Workday and Smartsheet.
Additional Details
  • Salary: $70,000+ depending on qualifications.
  • Work conditions involve standard office environment and keyboard use.
