Job summary

Holtec International, via SMR LLC, seeks a Human Factors Engineering Engineer II to lead HFE activities for the SMR-300 project. You will derive HFE requirements, conduct task and error analyses, and evaluate HSIs across plant systems, ensuring regulatory compliance and clear documentation.

You will work with engineers and regulators to produce licensing reports, ISV work products, and assessments, mentoring junior staff while balancing schedule and safety priorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Factors Engineering, Ergonomics, or related field from ABET-accredited program.
• 5–7 years of relevant HFE experience in nuclear or regulated industries.
• Experience performing task/human error analyses and HSI evaluations for complex systems.
• Ability to derive and manage HFE requirements in line with regulatory guidance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement HFE activities for SMR-300 plant design, development, and licensing.
• Derive and maintain HFE requirements aligned with regulatory guidance and industry standards.
• Conduct task analysis and human error analysis to support safety and licensing activities.
• Support design/review of HSIs including control rooms and digital systems.
• Plan and execute HFE verification and validation and ISV activities.
• Prepare HFE assessments and licensing documentation for regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and present findings to regulators and stakeholders.
• Provide guidance to junior engineers and review technical work.
