Job summary

Firefly Aerospace in Briggs, Texas seeks an HSE Specialist III to lead environmental, health, safety and Process Safety Management programs for ground support equipment, propulsion test systems, and test operations.

You will mentor junior staff, perform hazard analyses (PHA/HAZOP/LOPA), manage incident investigations, and ensure regulatory compliance across OSHA, EPA, DOT and related standards while partnering with GSE Engineering, Test Operations and Facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Chemical Engineering, or related technical field.
• 5+ years of progressive HSE experience in high-hazard environments.
• 3+ years of direct PSM experience.
• Formal training in PHA/HAZOP/LOPA.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA PSM requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise-wide HSE and PSM programs for propulsion testing and high-hazard operations.
• Serve as senior HSE subject matter expert for propulsion testing, cryogenics, and hazardous materials.
• Manage OSHA PSM elements and regulatory compliance.
• Facilitate PHA/What-If/HAZOP/LOPA analyses and other risk assessments.
• Partner with engineering and operations to embed safety in design and change activities.
• Lead incident investigations and root-cause analyses with corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain safety documentation, procedures, and training programs.
• Coordinate Pre-Startup Safety Reviews and safety readiness activities.
• Oversee contractor safety management and audits, and safety communications.
• Travel to launch, manufacturing, and test sites as required.
