Job summary

Firefly Aerospace is seeking an experienced HSE Specialist III to lead environmental, health, safety, and PSM for ground support equipment and propulsion test systems at the Briggs, Texas facility.

You will guide risk reduction, regulatory compliance, and emergency preparedness across test operations, mentoring junior staff and integrating safety into planning and execution. The role requires strong cross-functional collaboration and hands-on leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree required in a related technical field.
• 5+ years of progressive HSE experience in high-hazard environments.
• 3+ years of direct Process Safety Management (PSM) experience.
• Formal training in PHA/HAZOP/LOPA or equivalent is required.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA PSM (29 CFR 1910.119) and risk management principles.
• Experience leading PHA/HAZOP/MOC/PSSR and incident investigations.
• Experience developing emergency response plans and safety management systems.
• Willingness to travel to launch, test, and manufacturing sites.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and continuous improvement of enterprise-wide HSE and PSM programs for propulsion testing and hazardous operations.
• Serve as senior HSE and PSM SME for high-risk aerospace operations (propellants, cryogenics, energized systems).
• Manage OSHA PSM program elements for applicable processes and operations.
• Facilitate PHAs, What-If analyses, HAZOPs, LOPA, and other risk assessments.
• Ensure safety in design, modifications, and MOC with engineering and operations teams.
• Lead incident investigations, root-cause analyses, and corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain PSM documentation and audits; support PSSR for new systems and changes.
• Conduct advanced hazard analyses (JHA, OSHA-related) and risk assessments.
• Oversee emergency response plans and incident command activities.
