Job summary

Howard University is seeking an Associate Director of Human Resources for the Faculty Practice Plan (FPP) and the College of Medicine (CoM). The role partners with physician leaders and university executives to align talent and workforce strategies with clinical, academic, and operational priorities.

The Associate Director serves as the primary HR partner for FPP and CoM, providing strategic consultation, day-to-day support, workforce planning, employee relations, compensation, and compliance

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field.
• Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Organizational Development, or related discipline preferred.
• Ten years of progressively responsible human resources experience.
• Experience advising senior leaders on complex workforce, organizational, and employee relations matters.
• Experience across HR functions and collaborating with centralized subject‑matter experts to deliver integrated solutions.
• Experience supporting a healthcare organization, academic medical center, physician practice, faculty practice plan, or higher education environment preferred.
• Prior supervisory or team‑lead experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic HR consultation to FPP and CoM leadership.
• Lead workforce planning and talent management initiatives.
• Oversee employee relations and performance management guidance.
• Collaborate with central HR to deliver integrated HR solutions.
• Advise on compensation, benefits, and workforce analytics across the portfolio.
