Alto is seeking a Senior HR Manager to lead HR operations for its field workforce across Los Angeles, Dallas, Houston, Miami, and San Francisco. The role emphasizes consistency, scalability, and compliance in a fast-growing environment.

You will build and mentor HR teams, manage complex investigations, and own multi-stateHR processes—from documentation standards to workers’ compensation and leaves—ensuring practical, policy-aligned execution in every market.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in HR with depth in employee relations and investigations.
• 5+ years managing HR staff across multiple sites in more than one state.
• Experience building HR processes and systems; be ready to walk us through a built example.
• Multi-state employment law with California experience including CFRA, PDL, FEHA, wage/hour, Cal/OSHA.
• Hands-on workers' compensation and return-to-work experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead HR operations across markets with consistent standards while accounting for state/local requirements.
• Hire an HR Manager for California within your first 60 days.
• Serve as senior escalation point for complex employee relations and oversee investigations with documented findings.
• Lead, coach, and develop HR Managers, Generalists, Coordinators, and staff across markets.
• Oversee workers' compensation program end to end including intake, adjusters, and nurse case managers.
• Oversee ADA/FEHA accommodations, FMLA/CRA and other protected leaves.
• Own multi-state employment compliance with CA wage and hour, CFRA, PDL, FEHA, Cal/OSHA, IIPP.
• Establish SOPs for documentation, discipline, terminations, and job abandonments per CA standards.
• Partner with legal/leadership on complex employee relations, claims, and risk mitigation.
• Build scalable HR workflows and automation to reduce manual work across markets.
• Develop reporting for leadership on trends, case volume, response times, and headcount.
• Manage employee contact center, ticket queue, and resolution standards.
• Ensure HRIS data integrity, onboarding compliance, and market workforce reporting.
• Coordinate with Payroll on wage/hour compliance and multi-state admin.
• Provide manager training on policy, documentation, and progressive discipline.
