Job summary

Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) is seeking a Senior Manager, Human Resources to act as second-in-command to the AVP of HR. This role translates people strategy into execution across HR operations, employee and intern experience, and compliance, serving as Acting Head of HR in the AVP's absence.

You will partner with all departments on recruiting, onboarding, performance management, learning, and audits, while ensuring state and federal compliance for a multi-state nonprofit education

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 5–7+ years in progressive HR generalist/HRBP roles.
• Experience in multi-state compliance; nonprofit/education sector preferred.
• SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or PHR/SPHR preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee ER case intake, triage, and investigations; lead complex cases and corrective actions.
• Codify employee Code of Conduct; standardize selection, scheduling, and recognition.
• Co-own headcount planning and requisition governance; enforce wage rules.
• Standardize structured interviews and job architecture; promote inclusive hiring.
• Oversee onboarding and 30/60/90-day success metrics for staff and volunteers.
• Lead performance cycles and coach managers on feedback quality.
• Develop L&D pathways; track completion and impact.
• Manage talent reviews and succession planning for critical/grant-funded roles.
