Job summary

Metropolitan Market is seeking a Senior HR Manager, Core to lead and evolve our HR programs that shape team member experience across all stores. You will collaborate with the VPHR to turn organizational priorities into practical policies, tools, and resources, driving engagement, performance development, and succession planning.

This role emphasizes integrity, effective coaching, and strategic partnership with store leaders.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of progressive HR experience required.
• Minimum of five years of supervisory experience required.
• Minimum of three years conducting employment investigations required.
• Bachelor's degree in HR or related field strongly preferred.
• HR certification strongly preferred.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion essential.
• HR experience in a union environment preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of HR policies/procedures and employment laws and regulations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
• Exceptional organization skills and attention to detail required. Must be able to multi-task effectively and manage multiple deadlines.
• Curious and solutions-oriented thinker; flexible and resilient.

Responsibilities

• Partners with VPHR to translate organizational vision into HR programs, policies, and resources.
• Develops and implements team member experience and engagement programs; measures success.
• Designs and delivers career pathing and succession planning programs.
• Leads performance development and management programs; evaluates outcomes.
• Builds trusted relationships and provides practical HR guidance that adds value.
• Lead, mentor, and develop HR team members with coaching and feedback.
• Provide day-to-day leadership to HR team members and ensure priority alignment.
• Lead execution of Core HR programs across the employee lifecycle.
• Consults with VPHR on high-risk team member relations matters and investigations.
• Provide strategic leadership in employee relations and policy applications.
• Lead workplace investigations and ensure compliant resolutions.
• Partner with leaders to cascade information and implement programs company-wide.
• Oversee pre-employment and onboarding processes for efficiency and compliance.
