Scion Nonprofit Staffing is seeking a Senior HR Generalist for a mission-driven nonprofit focused on marine mammal rescue and conservation. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, this hybrid role partners with People & Culture leadership to support employees and drive HR initiatives.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on HR experience, strong judgment, and the ability to manage day-to-day HR operations independently while shaping compliant, people-first processes across the organization.

Qualifications

• Strong background in HR generalist functions including employee relations and performance management.
• Working knowledge of California employment law and HR compliance requirements.
• Ability to handle sensitive employee matters with discretion and confidentiality.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as trusted partner to People & Culture leadership and manage day-to-day HR matters.
• Support employee relations, performance management, workplace concerns with discretion.
• Help maintain policies, procedures, and compliance with California employment laws.
• Partner with department leaders on staffing, engagement, onboarding, and priorities.
• Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, systems, and reporting.
• Collaborate with recruitment, learning and development, and volunteer operations on special projects.
